Electoral Campaign

  • Party Introduction

  • Candidate Introduction

Introduction videos are expected from political campaigns at the beginning of the race and are typically released as the first political ad for candidates. While other ads will effectively run on a loop for voters through the end of the campaign, the introductory video is designed to bring in the first round of fundraising, volunteers, and support for campaigns. This ad typically features a candidate describing her/his background, qualifications, and reasons for running. The only subject of the introductory ad is the candidate

Our Digital Campaign Plan

  1. Doing the research necessary to prepare for the campaign.

  2. Setting a strategic campaign goal of how many votes are needed to win.

  3. Analyzing and targeting voters.

  4. Developing a campaign message.

  5. Developing a voter contact plan.

  6. Implementing that plan.

  7. Gathering data about the electorate: finding out who our target voters were. Those who could make the difference, the persuadable voters.

  8. Conducting research: finding out which issues and areas we should focus on, what messages and tone resonated with each segment and sub-segment.

  9. Engagement: The implementation of the marketing campaign and the content production phase.

The way we thought about these three pillars was actually a cycle, rather than stages. Each stage feeds into the other and they are heavily interdependent.

Research

Every campaign is different and unique. While certain basic principles can be applied to each campaign, it is important to have a complete understanding of the particular situation and the conditions in which your campaign will be waged

  1. What is the type of election and what are the rules?

  2. What are the characteristics of the district?

  3. What are the characteristics of the voters?

  4. What has happened in past elections?

  5. What are the main factors affecting this election?

  6. What are the strengths and weaknesses of your candidate?

  7. What are the strengths and weaknesses of all the viable opponents?

Our Candidate

The most important factor in your election will be the candidate. During a strategic planning session, we should honestly and candidly judge the strengths and weaknesses of your candidate. As we do this exercise, we should also look at your candidate from the point of view of your opponent. What you may view as a fresh new face with new ideas, your opponent may view as a lack of experience. You may want to organize your assessment into various sections, such as the candidate's childhood, education, work history, immediate family, and past political positions. It is important to look for both strengths and weaknesses in all of these areas. By finding weaknesses early, the campaign will be better prepared to deal with them and respond to charges that may come up later in the campaign. Too many candidates have lost because they refused to deal with past mistakes and were caught off guard when their opponents painted the picture of their mistakes in a very unflattering light.
